Position: Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full Time Full‑time shifts are available at our Special Hospital in Peapack, NJ. Signing Bonus of $1,500.00 ($750.00 payable after completion of six months of continuous employment, and $750.00 after completion of twelve months). The bonus is paid in two installments. Desired Qualities Respect Professionalism Integrity Compassion Duties Provides personal care tasks to an assigned patient or group, meeting their hygiene, safety, comfort, nutritional, elimination, activity, and social needs. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the individual’s personal care plan, including nursing, therapeutic, dietary, and behavioral interventions. Participates in nursing report at the beginning of each shift prior to working with patients. Assists the nurse in observing patients and communicates any problems or changes in status. Respects patients’ rights, concerns, privacy, and dignity at all times. Ensures patients are dressed properly and remain clean and dry. Checks patients for reddened areas and signs of skin breakdown, reporting findings to the nurse immediately. Conducts hourly monitoring for patients using safeguarding equipment while in bed. Notifies the nurse when a patient complains of or exhibits signs of pain or injury. Maintains organization and cleanliness of patients’ residential area, including clothing, equipment, and personal property. Maintains cleanliness of patients’ wheelchairs. Takes monthly weights on patients and reports results to the PCA Supervisor. Works with a partner to complete duties in accordance with facility policies. Participates in and contributes to departmental and interdisciplinary team meetings. Participates in and assists patients in recreational activities. Transports patients to and from various activities or programs; accompanies patients to outside appointments when necessary. Demonstrates the ability to follow directions, both oral and written, and works cooperatively with other staff members. Ensures that all documentation requirements are completed during the shift. Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients, family members and other staff. Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks. Effective verbal and written communication in English. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (preferred but not required). Licensure/Certifications Heartsaver CPR certification required. (Training provided by Matheny).
