Lead Software Engineer - Investment Platforms

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Investment Platforms in New York, NY. Overview: A leading global investment management firm is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help build and enhance critical investment and operational platforms used across multiple business lines. This is a unique opportunity for a senior hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, mentoring engineers, partnering with business stakeholders, and driving delivery of high-impact platform initiatives. The role combines technical leadership with meaningful hands-on development and offers the opportunity to shape systems that support investment decision-making, data management, workflow automation, and business operations. We will also consider exceptional senior engineers. Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of complex software platforms and distributed systems
• Drive architecture and technical design decisions across multiple initiatives
• Partner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
• Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering best practices
• Remain actively involved in software development and technical problem solving
• Build scalable APIs, backend services, and cloud-native applications
• Contribute to platform modernization, automation, and AI-enabled initiatives
• 7-15+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience building enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications
• Strong system design and architectural skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Preferred Experience:

• Financial services, investment management, capital markets, trading, market data, or fintech experience
• Experience supporting investment, portfolio, trading, reference data, workflow, or operational platforms
• Exposure to Order Management Systems (OMS), investment workflows, trade lifecycle processes, or related front-office technologies
• Experience leveraging AI tools and AI-assisted development practices
