Engineering Manager

Position Summary:


The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction across engineering and manufacturing activities within the organization. This position oversees engineering projects, manufacturing processes, technical development, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring that engineering activities align with established company objectives, quality standards, and safety requirements.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with a strong background in CNC machining and manufacturing who can bridge the gap between engineering, production, and the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prioritize, and oversee engineering and manufacturing projects.
• Lead and develop engineering personnel, including performance management, coaching, training, and workforce development.
• Develop and implement strategies for engineering management, manufacturing processes, and technical development.
• Partner with operations and other department leaders to establish engineering objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
• Support production and operations through cycle-time analysis, process development, and manufacturing planning.
• Develop and improve CNC programs, manufacturing processes, setups, and job documentation.
• Lead new-part programming, process development, job documentation, and production launch activities.
• Troubleshoot technical and manufacturing issues during new-job run-offs and production.
• Identify and implement improvements to CNC programs, manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and setups.
• Establish and maintain accurate engineering and manufacturing documentation.
• Monitor and improve cycle times, setup efficiency, tooling utilization, and manufacturing costs.
• Manage tooling and related inventory while identifying opportunities to reduce tooling costs and waste.
• Conduct time studies, tooling evaluations, and process reviews to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Work closely with machinists, programmers, production personnel, and other technical staff to resolve shop-floor issues.
• Train and mentor employees in machining practices, manufacturing documentation, software systems, and job processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture focused on efficiency, quality, safety, and problem solving.
• Maintain and manage engineering and production issue tracking to ensure concerns are identified, addressed, and resolved.
• Establish or update policies, procedures, and standardized work practices when needed.
• Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders regarding engineering and manufacturing issues.
• Participate in workplace organization and continuous improvement programs, including 5S.
• Perform quality and inspection activities as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in CNC machining and manufacturing.
• Strong hands-on understanding of CNC machining, programming, setups, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading engineering, manufacturing, or technical personnel.
• Demonstrated experience with process improvement, cycle-time optimization, and manufacturing problem solving.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong project management, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CNC programming and multi-axis machining.
• Experience with tooling and fixture design.
• Experience with manufacturing process development and optimization.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP/MES systems.
• NDT Level II certification or experience is a plus.
