Senior Oracle/SQL Database Administrator (DBA III)

This is a 12-month contract position for a Senior Oracle/SQL Database Administrator located in Austin, Texas, offered on a hybrid basis (2 days onsite, 3 days remote). The role focuses on migrating Oracle databases to Azure SQL while managing enterprise database environments with complex data models, workflows, and reporting requirements. Responsibilities Migrate Oracle databases, schemas, stored procedures, and functions to Azure SQL. Perform database administration for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models. Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Implement backup, recovery, replication, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions. Manage database security, user access, and data protection. Perform database upgrades, patching, installations, and maintenance. Support ETL processes and data migration activities. Convert Oracle PL/SQL procedures and functions to Azure SQL. Work closely with development teams in an Agile (Scrum) environment. Monitor database health and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks. Qualifications Required 10+ years of Database Administration experience. 8+ years of experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Strong experience in database design, performance tuning, database administration, data modeling, database security, backup and recovery, and high availability and disaster recovery. Experience with enterprise application architecture. Experience creating technical and functional design documentation. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Experience with multi-tier applications (SOA, Microservices, or 3-Tier Architecture). Preferred Experience with Azure SQL. Experience migrating Oracle databases to Azure SQL. ETL experience using Azure tools. Experience with large volume databases, high availability, and disaster recovery infrastructure. Experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps. Java/J2EE experience.
