Ultrasound Technician

Performs level II ultrasounds and assists in guiding for procedures related to the scope of maternal fetal medicine (amniocentesis, CVS, biophysical profiles, dopplers, first trimester screening)

Compensation Pay Range: $44.54 - $59.95

Essential Functions

• Receives and reviews requests for level II scans on patients
• Explains exam to the patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs
• Reviews exam and collaborates with MFM specialist in a timely fashion and collegial way
• Demonstrates excellent bedside manners
• Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patient who is not only under physical and emotional stress
• Must have knowledge in how to handle "Bad news to patients" and may have to attend specific courses or lectures in hospital
• Must possess analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques and procedures and fetal anatomy and physiology
• Must be able to stand and walk most of the day
• Follows and spreads "Culture of Service Excellence"
• Executes paperwork and enters patients in the computer in a timely fashion order to maintain pace of patient flow
• Prepares equipment and supplies at the beginning of the day and during patient care and at the end of the day
• Maintains effective working relations and communications with division members (sonographers, MFM staff, genetic counsellor, perinatal nurse)
• Participates in training of sonographer students, residents, MFM fellows, genetic counsellor students as deemed necessary but the MFM staff/director
• Fosters a culture of safety

Job Requirements

Graduate of accredited Ultrasound Program required

At least 2 years of Level II scanning preferred

RDMS or eligible - Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
