The Guest Services Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and employees of LHC Residences. This position performs routine cleaning and sanitation duties throughout resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned areas of the facility.

The Guest Services Associate must complete all duties with respect for residents’ dignity, privacy, personal belongings, and individual preferences. This position also plays an important role in infection prevention by following established cleaning, disinfecting, hand hygiene, and waste-disposal procedures.

• Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining areas, activity rooms, offices, lounges, nursing stations, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, furniture, fixtures, windowsills, doors, handrails, and other surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, mirrors, and bathroom fixtures.
• Make resident beds and change linens as assigned.
• Empty trash containers and dispose of regular, medical, and hazardous waste in accordance with facility procedures.
• Replenish soap, paper products, sanitation supplies, and other necessary items.
• Follow established schedules for routine, deep, and room turnover cleaning, as well as special cleaning assignments.
• Clean and prepare resident rooms following a discharge, transfer, or change in occupancy.
• Use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies according to manufacturer instructions and facility safety procedures.
• Follow infection-prevention protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Use appropriate precautions when cleaning areas affected by infectious illnesses, bodily fluids, or other potential hazards.
• Place wet-floor signs and take other precautions to protect residents, employees, and visitors from slips, falls, and cleaning-related hazards.
• Immediately report spills, damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, pest concerns, maintenance issues, or environmental hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
• Report missing, damaged, or unusually soiled resident property according to facility procedures.
• Respect residents’ personal space and obtain permission before moving personal belongings whenever appropriate.
• Knock before entering resident rooms, introduce oneself, and explain the purpose of the visit.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and avoid discussing resident information in public or unauthorized areas.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and facility leadership.
• Respond courteously to reasonable resident requests and refer concerns outside the position’s authority to the appropriate department.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, storage rooms, and supply areas in a clean, organized, and secure condition.
• Keep cleaning chemicals and equipment secured and inaccessible to residents.
• Monitor supply levels and notify the supervisor when additional products or equipment are needed.
• Participate in required staff meetings, safety drills, infection-control training, and other facility training programs.
• Follow LHC Residences’ policies related to resident rights, abuse and neglect prevention, confidentiality, workplace safety, attendance, and professional conduct.
• Assist with special projects, emergency cleanup, facility inspections, and other housekeeping assignments as directed.
• Perform other duties reasonably related to the position and assigned by facility leadership.

The Guest Services Associate is expected to:

• Treat every resident with dignity, compassion, patience, and respect.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents and families.
• Avoid disrupting resident care, meals, activities, or rest whenever possible.
• Immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment, or unsafe resident conditions according to facility policy.
• Immediately report changes or concerns observed in a resident’s environment to nursing staff or a supervisor.
• Follow all isolation, infection control, and outbreak response instructions.
• Never provide hands-on resident care unless specifically trained, authorized, and directed to do so.
• Support a resident-centered environment that promotes safety, comfort, independence, and quality of life.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping, janitorial, healthcare, hospitality, or long-term care experience preferred.
• Experience working around older adults or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read cleaning-product labels, safety instructions, and work schedules.
• Ability to work independently while also cooperating with other departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, background checks, health screenings, and facility-required training.

• Knowledge of basic cleaning and sanitation practices.
• Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to follow infection-prevention and personal-protective-equipment requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a sanitary environment.
• Ability to prioritize assignments and complete work within established timeframes.
• Ability to recognize and report safety, maintenance, and environmental concerns.

• Ability to interact appropriately with residents who may have dementia, cognitive impairments, physical limitations, or behavioral challenges.

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The employee must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
• Lift, carry, push, or move cleaning supplies, linen bags, carts, and equipment.
• Regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment when required.
• Operate vacuums, mops, floor-cleaning equipment, and other housekeeping tools.
• Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, and communication ability to identify hazards and respond to instructions or emergency situations.
• Wear gloves, masks, gowns, eye protection, or other required personal protective equipment.

The Guest Services Associate works throughout a nursing home, assisted-living, or long-term-care environment and may be exposed to:

• Cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
• Bodily fluids, infectious illnesses, and contaminated materials.
• Medical equipment and resident-care activities.
• Wet floors, odors, dust, noise, and varying room temperatures.
• Residents experiencing cognitive, behavioral, mobility, or medical challenges.
• Weekend, evening, holiday, or emergency work assignments based on facility needs.

The employee must follow all safety, infection control, exposure control, and personal protective equipment requirements.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. The Guest Services Associate must arrive on time, remain at work for the scheduled shift, and notify the appropriate supervisor of any absence or delay in accordance with facility procedures.

The employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, or modified schedules based on resident needs, staffing levels, emergencies, outbreaks, or other operational requirements.
