Position Summary The Adjunct Instructor – Therapeutic Massage will provide engaging instruction in therapeutic massage as part of GTCC’s Massage Therapy Program. The instructor will teach through lectures, demonstrations, and hands‑on training while maintaining professional and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy and NC Administrative Code. Work schedules may vary, including day, evening, and weekend assignments. Key Duties & Responsibilities Teaching: Prepare and teach departmental courses using learner‑centered methods; develop lesson plans and instructional materials; incorporate appropriate technologies; maintain syllabi and instructional media; participate in curriculum updates; evaluate student learning outcomes. Professional Development: Maintain professional credentials, licenses, and field expertise; participate in training to enhance instructional skills. Administration: Maintain accurate student records; oversee classroom and laboratory environments; adhere to regulations. Student Support: Promote student retention and success by providing guidance; address concerns and refer to resources; model professional employability skills. Additional Duties: Take class attendance; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Education & Licensure Associate’s degree from an accredited post‑secondary institution. License in Massage & Bodywork Therapy (LMBT) or licensure in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, or Nursing. Preferred Education & Credentials Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post‑secondary institution. Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) Certified Instructor through the NMT Center. Experience Requirements Minimum two years of professional experience as a licensed massage therapist. Teaching and/or industry training experience. More than three years of professional experience in massage therapy. Experience assessing student learning outcomes. Experience with distance learning or alternate instructional delivery systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding and commitment to the community college mission and open‑door philosophy. Ability to multi‑task and adapt to changing procedures or assignments. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency in technology relevant to instruction. Working knowledge of NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy rules and procedures. Ability to manage and oversee a student clinic for both college employees and the public. Department / Job‑Specific Requirements Participate in curriculum updates, course scheduling, and maintaining current licenses. Physical Demands Conduct classes and labs according to established schedules (weekdays, evenings, and occasional Saturdays); maintain clean classrooms. Stand, walk, bend, or climb for extended periods during instruction. Other Requirements Successful completion of a criminal history check is required.
