Research Assistant - MCG-Immunology Center of GA

Job Summary The primary responsibilities of this position include mouse colony management and care tasks such as weaning, breeding, clipping, PCR genotyping, and record keeping. The employee will also assist with administrative tasks such as ordering, invoice management, and maintaining stocks relevant to mice. After receiving training, the employee will work under minimal supervision. Responsibilities Manage colony through breeding and weaning to avoid overcrowded cage penalties. Collect tail clippings and prepare for shipping twice a week. Enter and track genotyping results. Place and receive mouse orders; update database and colony management software. Generate reports on specific mouse lines and meet with supervisors to start new lines. Observe animals daily to assess health, environment, and social conditions; administer special diets. Maintain cage cards, animal histories, and other required records. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related natural/health care/material science field and experience in a research/basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research. OR an Associate's degree in the same field and at least three years of experience in a research/basic science or clinical setting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and related computer database software. Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality; use sound judgment; work independently. Shift, Salary & Benefits Shift: Days; Monday‑Friday (outside standard business hours may be required). Pay Band: B5. Salary: $17.88–$17.94 per hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications within established range. This position is funded through external sources; continued employment depends on funding availability. Benefits may include health, dental, life insurance; Teachers Retirement System; vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. After six months of full‑time employment, tuition assistance may be considered. Conditions of Employment Successful background check prior to start; credit check if required for trust positions or purchase card usage. Vehicle report if required to drive a university vehicle.
