CMT Field and Laboratory Technician

CMT Field and Laboratory TechnicianWe are seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field & Laboratory Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials in support of commercial, residential, industrial, and public works construction projects. This position offers a combination of field inspection and testing responsibilities along with laboratory testing and sample processing.ResponsibilitiesPerform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications.Conduct soil density testing using nuclear density gauges and other field testing equipment.Perform concrete testing including slump, air content, temperature, and casting of compressive strength cylinders.Observe and document construction activities related to earthwork, foundations, paving, and concrete placement.Accurately record field observations, test results, and project documentation.Communicate testing results and project information to project managers, contractors, and clients.Collect, transport, receive, sample, and prepare materials for laboratory testing.Perform laboratory testing including Proctor compaction, sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits, sand equivalent, compression testing, aggregate testing, and asphalt testing.Calculate, review, and report laboratory and field test results.Maintain testing equipment, vehicles, and laboratory facilities in accordance with company quality and safety requirements.Follow company safety procedures and maintain compliance with radiation safety requirements.Assist with additional testing, inspection, and project-related duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience in construction materials testing, field inspection, laboratory testing, or a related construction field preferred.Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and industry-standard testing procedures preferred.Ability to read construction plans, specifications, and testing requirements preferred.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform calculations and verify testing data.Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a team in a laboratory environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic reporting systems.Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Preferred CertificationsACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade IATTI/WAQTC/ASTM/AASHTO Soils and Aggregate CertificationATTI/WAQTC Asphalt CertificationRadiation Safety CertificationNuclear Gauge Safety CertificationACI Concrete Strength Testing TechnicianAdditional ICC, NICET, or construction inspection certifications are a plusPreferred ExperienceField density testing and earthwork observationConcrete placement observation and testingAsphalt paving observation and testingLaboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt materialsConstruction quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) services
