Position Summary

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining safe, efficient operations across mixing, pumping, filling, and packaging processes.

This position is ideal for individuals with solid mechanical aptitude who are eager to expand their technical skills and grow into a skilled industrial maintenance professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing production equipment, including mixers, pumps (centrifugal, diaphragm, rotor-stator), conveyors, fillers, and packaging machinery
• Perform routine maintenance on mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, seals, valves, and bearings
• Support basic electrical troubleshooting activities, including sensors, limit switches, motor starters, and VFDs, as trained
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and assist in safely restoring production operations with minimal downtime
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, including lubrication, inspections, adjustments, and component replacements
• Follow established PM schedules and proactively identify early signs of wear, malfunction, or potential failure
• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of facility systems such as compressed air, dust collection, water systems, and HVAC
• Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and OSHA regulations
• Accurately document maintenance activities using maintenance logs or a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Communicate equipment conditions, maintenance needs, and repair status clearly with supervisors and production teams

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in industrial manufacturing, plant maintenance, mechanical, or technical roles (manufacturing environment preferred, but not required)
• Basic working knowledge of PLCs, pumps, compressors, and motor control systems
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, motors, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical components
• Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments
• Strong willingness to learn and develop electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Technical training, trade school education, or industry certifications are preferred
