Position Concept The Integration Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology architecture framework and providing technical leadership in support of the organization’s initiatives in on‑prem & cloud computing by leveraging both on‑prem and cloud integration services and automation. The Architect will implement and deliver the organization’s Enterprise Integration strategy, introduce emerging technologies and public cloud services, API services, and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) strategies. The Architect will work with development teams and stakeholders, providing architecture leadership, best practices, and driving migration and refactoring of on‑premises applications to cloud‑native design and deployment methodologies. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate deep subject‑matter leadership of cloud architecture and implementation features. Manage development and implementation of Integration strategy, architecture governance framework, and define architecture foundations. Define integration standards, DevOps, CI/CD tool chain and Standard Operating Environment (SOE). Define and enforce Enterprise Integration, SOA, Business Process Integration standards, and associated tools/platforms/frameworks. Lead proof‑of‑concepts and implementation, building deployment automation pipelines and automated CI/CD pipelines, integrating new technologies like containers, multi‑cloud and preventing cloud provider lock‑in. Define and execute the Enterprise Integration strategy for cloud migrations and on‑premises evolution aligned with overall IT strategy. Define and enforce integration architecture best practices (availability, redundancy, performance, disaster recovery, DB, interfacing systems). Serve as SME for organization’s end‑to‑end architecture, including SAP, Azure, SuccessFactors, HANA API, networking, provisioning, and management. Develop a library of deployable and documented design patterns for cloud services. Provide leadership to back decisions with research, articulate options, pros and cons, and recommendations. Maintain industry knowledge of latest trends and technology applicability. Develop solutions architecture and evaluate alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models. Contribute to DevOps activities and complex development tasks. Define optimal design patterns for high availability and disaster recovery. Communicate functionality that reliably moves messages/data among endpoints. Support fundamental web and web services standards. Design functionality that dynamically binds consumer and provider endpoints, message validation, mapping, transformation, enrichment. Handle orchestration and support multiple interaction patterns. Provide consultation across architecture domains. Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment. Ensure delivered solutions meet technical and functional/non‑functional requirements. Provide technical expertise and ownership in diagnosis and resolution of issues. Ensure solutions are realized on time and manage scope and risk, communicating project health and risks to stakeholders. Provide support and technical governance related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operation. Mentor team members and external staff on cloud standards, frameworks, and cultural change for cloud adoption. Lead definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems. Conduct product work reviews with team members and provide thought leadership. Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective. Supervision Direct supervisory responsibility for assigned resources and may also supervise contract resources. Responsible for resource management, staff augmentation, vendor relationships and ensures adequate support for all assigned work activities. May serve as backup to management. Indirect supervision of development staff and architects. Relationships Key internal: IT Architects, IT Strategic Planning, Development Staff of various business application towers, Project Management Office, other IT and business stakeholders. Key external: SAP, Microsoft, consultants (system integrators, offshore teams), contractors, customers, vendors. Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline. Preferred: At least one professional certification in specific job‑related disciplines. Direct Experience Required: Minimum of 7 years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position or closely related duties. Experience spanning at least two IT disciplines (technical architecture, network and storage management, software application solution architecture, design or development, middleware, database management or operations). Minimum of 3 years of experience with cloud technologies and platforms such as SAP, Tableau, SAP PI/PO, BizTalk, HANA API, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP. Preferred: Gas or electric utility experience and experience working in large public or private‑sector organizations. Supervisory Experience Required: Minimum of three years supervisory or leadership experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends. Knowledge of industry trends and ability to apply trends to architectural needs. Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems and key business applications, functions, and processes. Willingness to instruct and coach in a cloud training program. Ability to interact with and provide architectural design guidance to project teams of employees and/or supplier resources. Experience creating a cloud strategy and coordinating adoption and implementation. Knowledge of Cloud Native Development, Micro Services architecture, Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), Automation Framework and Tools (RPA, Low Code). Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments. Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture and application development methodologies. Relevant design and development experience (Object‑oriented programming, domain‑driven design, database design, production‑grade software, web‑based solutions). Experience with ALM, CI/CD pipelines, debugging, performance profiling, and optimization. Agile development methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum. Creating Architecture/Design documents (HLD/LLD) with system diagrams and UML. Evaluating software trade‑offs and risks. API design and development. Hands‑on experience with Azure and SAP Cloud platform implementation. IP networking, VPN, DNS, load balancing, firewalls and security best practices. Cloud Security experience in IAM, infrastructure security, data security, and application security. Managing file and object storage, data archiving, backup, and disaster recovery to the cloud. Infrastructure as Code development and management of cloud environments. Requirements gathering, testing approaches, workshop facilitation, project management and governance, data‑driven decision making. Business Process Re‑engineering and modeling/mapping. Excellent listening, communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences. Ability to manage complex environments with multiple priorities. Resource management and team motivation. Conflict management, negotiation and consensus building. Continuous process improvement for SDLC, maintenance, application support, and IT architecture.
