This position will earn an additional $0.80 per hour for all weekend hours worked, as well as for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent at time of application2 years of experience in carpentry or commercial maintenance area.Must have knowledge of mechanical and building repairs.Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety methods used in the performance of job.Basic computer skills including the knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid drivers license upon appointmentPreferred Qualifications:Associates degree or 5 years work experience in the commercial or industrial area.Proficient in all aspects of the carpentry and maintenance fields.Experience in common cause of mechanical failures, structural and mechanical diagnostic and repair procedures.Knowledge and experience welding and metal cutting tasks.Strong organization skills and ability to effectively prioritize workloads and maintain accurate records.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.Physical Qualifications:Physical strength and stamina to perform required work including being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and work on feet for long periods of time.Ability to climb and work at considerable heights and/or in confined spaces under adverse conditions.Conditions of Appointment:Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Green Bay campus.A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s). In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A six-month probationary period is required for this position.
