Part Time Veterinarian - Companion Animal Hospital

Position Overview Join our team as a Part‑Time Veterinarian with predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment. The Companion Animal Hospital in Groton, Connecticut has been a staple in the community since 1982, is AAHA accredited for over 30 years, and offers full‑service care with a focus on avian and exotic pets. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintaining accurate medical records Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations Monitor cases and attend daily rounds when possible Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels Perform other duties as assigned by Management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university Current state veterinary license DEA registration 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care Effective communication with clients and staff Ability to handle client assistance and pet handling tasks Physical capability: occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological examinations and prescribing appropriate treatment Problem‑solving skills for high‑quality hospital management Professional communication with clients and internal staff Professionalism with constructive feedback Business acumen in veterinary hospital operations Knowledge of ethical principles guiding patient care decisions Commitment to continuing education and facilitating learning for others What We Offer Benefits include: Competitive salary with production bonus (no negative accrual) Signing and retention incentives up to $50,000 Continuing education stipend Licensing and dues reimbursement 401(k) participation Team member pet discounts Well‑being support including Calm app and 24/7 Employee Assistance Program Compensation for Part‑Time roles is prorated based on experience and hours/worked.
