Surgery And Observation Coder6 month contract to permanent, direct hire, Surgery and Observation Coder, remote/work from home – 40/hours a week, not part-timeJob Purpose:Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation to include, but not limited to: medical, diagnostic and surgical documentation for assignment of the correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes.Primary coding responsibility is Outpatient Surgery, Emergency Department (ED), Wound Care and Observation.Responsibilities:Assign diagnosis and surgical codes utilizing the 3M CAC 360 system to patient records using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS and any other designated coding classification system in accordance with the UHDDS coding guidelines.Assign procedural categories and modifiers as applicable.Assign appropriate discharge disposition as necessary.Maintain or exceed established coding accuracy and productivity standards.Ensure demographic information and documentation is congruent with scheduled or performed procedures.Evaluate assigned Coding work queue and work with the appropriate revenue cycle/hospital team to resolve accounts with the expected resolution timeframe.Qualifications:Experience coding Outpatient Surgery, Wound Care and Observation.Experience performing claim edits and denialsCCS, RHIA or RHIT coding certification required.Experience in coding at a multi-facility organization and remote coding experience is a plus.Everforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
