Senior Manager, U.S. Trade Floor Risk Management

The Trade Floor Risk Management role will monitor the risks generated by the new Metals Trading initiative in the U.S. as well as the FICC Index Business. The risk manager will be part of a team co‑located on the trading floor, working closely with other product specialists. In addition, the role will be responsible for backup coverage for the Global Equity Derivative Business out of the U.S., as well as the IEST (Cash Equity) and Convertible Bond Trading desk. Responsibilities Be the primary market risk management lead for the Metals Trading business (Base and Precious metals) and the related FICC Index Business. The role will also serve as backup for the GED Business, IEST, and Convertible Bond Trading business operating within the U.S. Establish risk limits for all Metals and Commodity‑based businesses operating out of the U.S., produce risk reporting, calculate capital under FRTB, facilitate breach discussions and remediation, and support the business review process. Maintain strong cooperative relationships with the front office, participate in setting Volcker metrics for these desks, advise on desk operating procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant rules. Collaborate with a larger risk management team in the U.S. and a global Trade Floor Risk Management effort. For equity‑related risks, work closely with the Risk Champion for products out of Toronto. Generate market risk material and analysis for local and global risk committees, including business risk metrics, emerging market risks, and risk support for businesses. Interface with regulators such as the Fed, OSFI, DFS, and others; work closely with the bank’s Regulatory Relations team. Collaborate with the COO team, Financial Engineering/Modeling team, Market Risk Model Development team, Model Risk team, Data Governance team, and Risk Technology team. Understand the design and capture of risk factors in all facets of the business; discuss model sufficiency with the Model Risk team. Work with other risk partners including Operational Risk, Compliance, Business Risk Management, and other financial and non‑financial risk groups. Produce Metals Trading/FICC Index, GED, IEST, and Convertible Bond risk reports, manage utilizations against limits, and perform breach remediation discussions and resolutions. Collaborate with the front office to establish and revise desk limit structures, including notional, VaR, stress‑testing limits, and other risk sensitivities. Respond daily to front office risk needs, answer questions, and provide effective challenge to justify limit change requests. Participate in the end‑of‑month IPV (Independent Price Valuation) process, working closely with the Product Control team. Promote a customer‑focused culture that deepens client relationships and leverages broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Communicate effectively with senior management, head office, and relevant risk committees to ensure proper risk management and sound governance across SBUS operations. Represent TFRM at the global Market Risk Management Policy Committee. Participate in, and support, internal audits, regulatory reviews, and projects. Qualifications Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or the hard sciences. Graduate degrees are welcome, especially in the listed disciplines. Minimum 5+ years of risk management or related experience specifically focused on Metals and Equity products. Knowledge of options in metals is a plus. Experience in rates risk, credit risk, and collateral financing (CMF/Repo or Prime Services) is helpful. Trading risk experience is not required but may be a plus. Expert knowledge of U.S. regulatory considerations and issues. Practical problem‑solving approach with strong commercial instinct and risk/reward mindset. Working knowledge of risk and front‑office vendors in the Metals space; advanced Bloomberg experience. Familiarity with Riskwatch is a plus. Advanced Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI, SQL, and Python is helpful. Excellent communication skills for intra‑risk, committee, regulatory, and front‑office business discussions representing market risk. Ability to leverage team strengths and complement existing skills. Strong negotiation and influencing skills, capable of balancing competing goals of various departments, countries, and stakeholders. Effective liaison with key internal stakeholders, industry participants, and regulatory bodies.
