Unit: School Of Medicine MBU Department: Radiation Oncology Duties & Responsibilities: Formulates research questions to address and solve complexchallenges in radiation oncology. Integrates concepts and data from health care sources to createanalyses that serve research and strategic efforts. Builds software modules to handle data communication protocolsin radiation oncology, such as DICOM. Identifies data sources; data querying, cleaning and gathering;processing and validation; statistical analysis and interpretation;and visualization. Uses database query tools and statistical, analytical, andvisualization software to extract, manipulate, analyze, interpret,and visualize data trends and patterns and uncover insights. Synthesizes and communicates insights from research and healthcare data for decision makers through data visualizations, reports,and presentations. Trains others in research design, statistical analysis, andvisualization techniques. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, DataAnalytics, Statistics, or related field; or equivalentexperience. Demonstrated proficiency in industry standard programinglanguages and analytics packages as well as visualizationsoftware. Ability to produce high quality, accurate results in adeadline-driven environment. Ability to prepare reports for a variety of stakeholders in acohesive and intuitive manner. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skillswith an ability to explain technical and statistical information inunderstandable terms. Understanding of research methods and data analytics needed inhealth care. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environmentof respect, professionalism, and civility with a population offaculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds andexperiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member atVCU. Preferred Qualifications Any prior experience in handling data communication protocolsin radiation oncology, such as DICOM.
