The MLC continually develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage opportunities and develops relationships with the IBC Bank Sales Team and IBC Commercial Bankers. The Mortgage Loan Consultant also evaluates and recommends approval of applications for residential real estate loans, and possesses an understanding of relevant loan products, regulatory disclosures, and interest rate pricing.Job DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDevelops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage opportunitiesDevelops relationships with the IBC Bank Sales team and IBC Commercial BankersEvaluates and recommends approval of applications for residential real estate loansPossesses an understanding of relevant loan products, regulatory disclosures, and interest rate pricingTakes information from the borrower and completes the applicationAnalyzes the prospective borrower's income and debt and pre-qualifies the prospective borrowerEducates the prospective borrower in the home financing process, advises the borrower about the different types of loan products available, and demonstrates how closing costs and monthly payments could vary under each product.Quotes interest rates and feesMaintains regular contact with the borrower, contractors, and other third parties between application and closingAssists the borrower in understanding and clearing credit problemsParticipates in the loan closingPerforms other related duties as assignedSKILLSStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage a pipelineTeamworkStrong customer service skillsSelf motivatedHighly organizedAbility to calculate qualifying income from federal tax returnsEDUCATION & KNOWLEDGEHigh School graduate or equivalent2 years recent experience preferred in residential loan originationsRMLO license highly preferred (NMLS registration required)Knowledge of Consumer Mortgage products and Texas Home Equity lawsKnowledge of procession, underwriting, closing, and funding of mortgage loans
