ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual in this position must use initiative and judgment arranging job details to achieve predetermined objectives. Obtains quotes on price and availability, places orders with vendors at the best possible prices for materials and/or supplies that meet all quality requirements. Schedules delivery of materials with delivery schedules that support production requirements. Negotiate blanket agreements and contracts as required, performs vendor selection and survey, and prepares documentation for the purchasing clerk to use in preparation of the Purchase Order. Solicits quotes for and secures transportation for inbound shipments. Prepares all necessary shipping documentation and coordinates arrivals with production and/or project management. Requires regular contact at all organizational levels, both internal and external, the exercise of discretion and tact in negotiating, and a well-developed sense of strategy and timing. Budgetary responsibility up to $50,000. Perform any other functions, activities, or duties as directed by their supervisor.

Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school, plus 3 - 5 five years of experience in a Buying capacity Or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, plus at least five years related experience and/or training. Or a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Buying capacity, plus the demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to top management and other groups. Effective with MS excel (including graphical illustrations), to provide effective presentations and maintain records. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires independent judgment and decision‑making skills.
