Construction Field Manager - Fairburn, GA

JOB SUMMARY

The Construction Field Manager reports directly to the Grid Manager. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of 2 Distribution Construction Supervisors and provide strategic leadership for Grid construction activities including procurement of overhead and underground resources, scheduling and work assignment, contract crew performance, project completion and contractor invoicing. The role will also develop and administer several contracts such as time and equipment, fixed price, hydrovac and traffic control contracts. Driving a culture of Safety Excellence in construction and operations is a key responsibility. Additionally, this role works with Region Distribution Managers, Engineering Supervisors and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction, quality standards of construction and responsiveness to inquiries. The successful candidate will mobilize contract and company resources during storm events and develop innovative methods to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and implement strategy.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma Required Four (4) year Bachelor or Bachelor of Science Degree (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Extensive line construction experience in Distribution (overhead/underground) required Experience managing contractors preferred Distribution operating experience required 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience required Extensive Storm Restoration Experience required Experience with contract administration and execution preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall performance of Construction Supervisors, Coordinators, and field contract employees Maintain good working relationships with contract partner leadership to drive positive results for the company and customers Lead the construction arm of the Grid portfolio and ensure safe, economic construction of overhead and underground distribution systems Support contract development for required contractual needs Ensure a diverse range of suppliers is available through mentoring and relationships Use performance‑management tools to improve employee and contract workforce productivity Review contractor bids for accuracy and appropriateness Improve customer satisfaction by exceeding internal and external expectations, meeting safety goals, increasing contract personnel productivity, and enhancing distribution system reliability through quality construction Respond promptly and effectively to all storm restoration needs Own high‑profile and critical customer jobs, provide timely upward communication, and allocate resources to complete jobs safely, on time, on budget, and with minimal external impact Reinforce and manage expectations around healthy challenges, a questioning attitude, and trust among employees and supervisors
