A well established food manufacturing company is hiring a Plant Engineering Manager for one of its flagship production facilities in Janesville, WI. This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Plant Manager, with ownership of plant engineering strategy across a high volume production site. The role partners closely with Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance to drive capital planning, maintenance excellence, and utilities performance.
Schedule: Full time, on site in Janesville, WI. Standard plant operating schedule, with availability for occasional off hours support as production needs require.
Compensation: $130,000 to $180,000 base salary, with additional bonus and retirement plan details below.
What You'll Do: In this role, you will develop a 1 to 5 year capital plan in coordination with Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance, and lead capital projects that improve automation, safety, quality, cost, and production efficiency. You will provide engineering leadership on automation and production design, thinking proactively about how new systems and processes can improve plant performance. You will support the broader plant and division with project and technical expertise, and you will manage the Utilities team, ensuring compliance and functionality across refrigeration, ammonia, nitrogen, steam, natural gas, and compressed air systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years in food manufacturing
- Experience maintaining plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, nitrogen, steam, natural gas, and compressed air
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Experience with strategy and budget planning for multi million dollar capital projects
- Continuous improvement experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- HACCP or food safety certification
- Experience with capital project management software or systems
- Advanced degree in Engineering or related field
