DEPARTMENT: PLANT OPERATIONSPOSITION TITLE: GROUNDSKEEPER II Full Time and Part Time/Year RoundRESPONSIBLE TO: GROUNDS SUPERVISOREXPOSURE LEVEL: CATEGORY IIIEXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt_____________________________________________________________________________________SUMMARY:Performs routine grounds maintenance that may include watering, raking, mowing, weeding, planting and trash/litter removal, snow removal and seasonal decorating. Operates trucks and/or powered grounds equipment. Must be able to work an occasional flexible schedule during the Summer Concert Series, snow removal season, and emergency Ground situations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: GroundsIrrigates, mows, rakes and trims lawnsPicks up and disposes of litter,Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls using clippers and edging toolsPerforms weedingLays sodAssist with small construction tasks such as excavating and handling and or transportation of equipment and materialsEnsures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesEnsures proper snow removal for safety of guests and staffAssists with decorating the grounds and interior for seasonal décorAssists with irrigation & maintenance of water featuresOperates powered equipment including ATV, skid steer, and gatorsPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Event set upSets up tents, chairs, tables, etc as neededDirect traffic and general duties as assigned by Grounds Supervisor and Event CoordinatorESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: SafetyObeys safety rules of St. John’s UnitedIdentifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazardsAttends mandatory safety in-servicesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Mission/Customer ServiceSupports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals.Follows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service*Let the Mission be your guide*Make eye contact and smile*Greet & welcome each and every person*Seek out personal contact*Provide immediate service-listen & act*Use appropriate body language at all times*Be gracious to each & every personESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee ResponsibilitiesFollows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.Attends all mandatory in-servicesPerforms other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor or person in charge of area where work is being done.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience and/or knowledge in related field preferred.A valid Montana driver’s licenseKnowledge, skills, and abilities required: Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety precautions Knowledge of grounds maintenance and turf equipment operations Ability perform grounds maintenance tasks Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade Ability to perform grounds maintenance such as laying sod Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects Requires the ability to work in extreme heat and cold conditions Must be dependable and have the ability to work independentlyPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires heavy physical work more than 70% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.WORKING CONDITIONS: Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment.
