We're seeking a Business Operations Lead who shares these values and will play a central role in building the operational infrastructure that supports our clients, our team, and our continued growth.

The Opportunity\n

The Business Operations Lead will take ownership of EdSails' operational functions across multiple client engagements and the company's internal business activities. This is a leadership role combining strategic judgment with hands-on execution. You'll direct sales engagement operations, oversee CRM systems and data quality, manage our internship program, coordinate corporate vendors, and develop processes that support our growth.

You'll have responsibility for setting operational standards, supervising execution, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering results. You'll manage interns who carry out delegated operational activities while retaining accountability for the quality and effectiveness of their work. You'll work directly with EdSails' founders and have meaningful influence over how the company operates and scales.

The role reports directly to co-founder and CEO Jon Small.

Key Responsibilities\n

Sales Engagement & CRM Operations\n

• Lead the operational management of inbound sales engagement across multiple client campaigns, ensuring timely qualification and effective handling of prospect responses.
\n
• Establish and oversee processes for identifying sales-qualified opportunities, evaluating referrals, and determining appropriate next steps.
\n
• Exercise commercial judgment to distinguish meaningful sales opportunities and prioritize engagement based on prospect interest and business potential.
\n
• Direct the capture and organization of qualified opportunities in client CRM systems, providing Jon and Eric with complete context and actionable follow-up tasks.
\n
• Establish standards for response management, lead qualification, and handoff to the sales team.
\n
• Oversee CRM data quality, including contact records, prospect list management, imports, deduplication, enrichment, and documentation of engagement history.
\n
• Lead and oversee the team responsible for sales engagement and CRM operations, delegating responsibilities effectively while maintaining ownership of quality and results.
\n
• Oversee unsubscribe and suppression procedures across outreach campaigns.
\n
• Continuously improve sales engagement workflows through technology, AI, automation, and operational best practices.
\n

Business Operations and Vendor Management\n

• Take ownership of EdSails' internal business operations, including invoicing, billing administration, expense coordination, and operational recordkeeping.
\n
• Independently research, evaluate, and recommend vendors and service arrangements, with financial commitments subject to CEO approval.
\n
• Lead the evaluation of employee benefits programs, including provider comparisons, cost analysis, and recommendations for future implementation.
\n
• Develop and maintain scalable internal operating procedures.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and organizational effectiveness.
\n
• Direct operational initiatives in coordination with company leadership.
\n

Technology and Process Improvement\n

• Lead the adoption of practical AI applications across business operations.
\n
• Evaluate workflow automation opportunities and emerging operational technologies.
\n
• Design and recommend improvements to existing processes and systems.
\n
• Direct implementation of approved operational initiatives.
\n
• Develop documentation, procedures, and repeatable workflows that support company growth.
\n
• Bring forward ideas that improve productivity, scalability, and business performance.

Qualifications\n

We're looking for a capable, resourceful professional who combines exceptional execution with independent judgment and a genuine sense of ownership.

• Approximately 2+ years of relevant experience in business operations, sales operations, startup operations, or a comparable environment.
\n
• Excellent proficiency with CRM systems, especially HubSpot and Salesforce.
\n
• Strong practical fluency with AI tools and modern business software.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to supervise others, delegate effectively, and maintain accountability for results.
\n
• Strong analytical thinking, business judgment, and problem-solving abilities.
\n
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple operational functions and competing priorities.
\n
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
\n
• An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for building systems that support growth.

• Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with substantial responsibility and autonomy.

A college degree is not required. Demonstrated capability, resourcefulness, and results matter most, along with a genuine love of education and a commitment to making a positive impact in the field.

Compensation and Career Growth\n

Starting annual salary: $60,000, fixed and non-negotiable.

\n

At EdSails, we believe company success should translate into meaningful employee compensation growth. Our quarterly compensation model allocates 20% of qualifying surplus operating profit equally among eligible employees as permanent increases to annual base salaries.Each eligible employee receives the same dollar increase, regardless of starting salary. These increases become part of ongoing compensation rather than one-time bonuses.The amount of any quarterly increase depends on qualifying financial results and available surplus. As EdSails grows, this position offers opportunities to expand its scope, influence, and leadership responsibilities.

• Central Time preferred, with availability during core U.S. business hours.

Holidays, Time Off, and Benefits\n

EdSails operates as a unified team with a shared commitment to our clients and one another.

All employees receive the same paid company holidays and scheduled closures, including the first seven weekdays of July and the last seven weekdays of December. We maintain a collaborative, flexible approach to occasional personal time off, with paid accommodations coordinated around team and business needs. Applicable paid sick leave and other legally protected leave are provided.

Employee benefits are an important area of planned company development. EdSails does not currently provide employer-sponsored health insurance. The Business Operations Lead will help shape our future benefits strategy by researching options, evaluating providers, and developing recommendations. The timing and details of any future benefits program have not yet been finalized.
