CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR

Job Responsibilities Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit/department based nursing educational initiatives to ensure the provision of high quality, cost‑effective patient care. This position is filled by an advanced practice nurse who, as a result of educational and in‑depth clinical experience in a designated area of specialty nursing, possesses the advanced knowledge and necessary clinical skills to provide unit/department based nursing education, orientation, and on‑boarding. Applies expert knowledge to act as a change agent, role model and leader for quality nursing care; guides nurses on the care of patients within the specific patient population. Ensures quality‑focused and cost‑effective education and care delivery outcomes; utilizes theory, research, evidence‑based research and guidelines, and specialized knowledge to plan care for the specific patient population. Collaborates to enhance quality of care; interprets, evaluates and communicates research findings. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Current RN license in the District of Columbia or endorsement eligible. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting. Certification in specialty (CNS and/or Education preferred) required within 1 year from start date. Previous experience in nursing education or staff development preferred. Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
