Payroll Specialist

Payroll in construction demands more. So does this role. If you've built your payroll career in construction, MEP, or specialty contracting — you know this world runs differently. Tight deadlines, complex labor classifications, multi-state compliance, certified payroll requirements. It's not entry-level work, and we're not looking for an entry-level hire. Ascension Property Services is a national platform supporting more than 1,500 employees across a growing portfolio of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operating companies. We're building out our corporate payroll function and looking for a Payroll Specialist who can own the details, handle the complexity, and keep things moving. What You'll Own You’ll support the weekly payroll process for hourly and salaried employees across multiple operating companies and states — from validating field‑submitted timekeeping data to auditing earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and labor allocations before anything posts. You’ll help with off‑cycle runs, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, and year‑end reporting. And because a meaningful portion of our work touches government‑funded and prevailing wage projects, you’ll support certified payroll compliance — WH-347 submissions, Davis‑Bacon requirements, wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations. This role sits in Corporate Accounting, reports to the Payroll Manager, and works in close collaboration with HR and Operations. It’s office‑based in Brentwood with one remote day per week built in.
