Registered Nurse - Cardiac 500

Job Summary Registered Nurse – Cardiac (Cardiac 500) – Full Time, Night Shift. Sign‑on bonus of $15,000 for candidates with two years of experience. Benefits & Incentives Family‑style atmosphere with a supportive team Competitive pay Career growth opportunities Tuition reimbursement Health and wellness coaching Extensive onsite gym for $12.00 a month Unit Description Cardiac 500 is a 31‑bed unit with 23 private and 4 semi‑private rooms that serves cardiac medical and surgical patients. The unit is team‑oriented, employs a multi‑disciplinary approach, and has a fast patient turnover. All nurses are ACLS and BLS certified with telemetry competency, with a patient ratio of 1:4‑5 day and night. Surgical population includes post‑open‑heart procedures, day‑1–2 out of ICU, VATS, thoracotomies, decortications, pericardectomy, pericardial windows, and thymectomy. Cardiac medical patients include STEMI/NSTEMI with or without interventions, post‑coronary angiography/angioplasty, device placements (ICD, pacemakers, Watchman), mitral clips, and patients requiring treatment for AFIB, CHF, arrhythmias, or cardiac infections. Responsibilities Coordinate patient care planning with other disciplines using the nursing process and critical thinking to maintain patient safety. Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other specialists, and adjust nursing care processes as needed. Obtain nursing histories, assess patient conditions, develop individual care plans, and maintain documentation. Review preceding shift reports, complete rounds of all units, and document patients’ conditions. Notify physicians of any unusual or unexpected events requiring direct consultation. Work with the interdisciplinary patient care team and reinforce patient instructional needs with families. Evaluate patient care outcomes, consult specialists as needed, and adjust nursing processes for optimal care. Identify and resolve workplace health and safety issues. Provide direct patient care using appropriate aseptic techniques, manage IV lines, ensure sterile practices, and oversee patient movement and positioning. Administer pharmacological vasodilator medications for nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging in accordance with imaging standards. Comply with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards; take corrective action when violations occur. Orient, instruct, and educate assigned personnel; support team members in exhibiting TMC values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. Adhere to TMC organizational and department‑specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications – Education Graduation from a qualified, nationally‑accredited nursing program. Certain positions may require additional training related to specific skill areas, such as electrophysiology, which includes 30 ablation procedures. Qualifications – Experience One year of nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred. Positions assigned to EP require two years of EP experience or demonstrated competency in all areas of EP lab procedures. Licensure and Certification Current RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona. BLS certification required; some departments require ACLS and/or PALS. Oral and written PCP may require EP certification from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners or equivalent. Hospice & Pediatrics areas require a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card within six months of hire. Mental health areas require Crisis Prevention Instruction (CPI). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of direct patient care and critical care procedures and techniques. Knowledge of exam indicators, contraindications, and patient preparation. Skill in communicating clearly and concisely with staff, critical care teams, and physicians. Skill in reading 12‑lead EKG. Demonstrated ability in assigned disciplines such as EP, directly involved in patient care. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence. Ability to listen and interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action. Ability to speak and communicate effectively. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
