Program Assistant, Renaissance Scholars & Undocumented Student Services Apply now Job no: 558952 Work type: Staff Location: Pomona Categories: Unit 4 - APC - Academic Professionals of California, Temporary, Full Time, Student Services, On-site (work in-person at business location) Outreach, Community Engagement, and Special Projects Assist with outreach efforts for Undocumented Students Services (USS) and other departmental outreach as needed (outreach events, tabling, enrollment support). Assist with community engagement both on and off campus with community organizations and/or donors as appropriate. Assist with the program/center newsletter(s), website, and social media. Assist with special projects as needed such as event planning, coordination, and facilitation (Student Retreat(s), monthly meetings, community events, Success Seminars, mixers, graduation events, etc.). Programming and Student Development Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors visiting the office/center and make appropriate referrals to on and off campus resources as needed. Help with the logistics and coordination of educational enrichment and community building activities that foster a positive learning community and leadership development for students. Assist with the leadership development of office student staff (Peer Mentors, Student Engagement Ambassadors, etc.); support onboarding and trainings. Administrative and Operational Support Assist with various office and program operational tasks such as office coverage, tracking, reports (scholarship, verification tracking, etc.), assessment, etc. Support the administrative and logistical needs required to execute services successfully (travel, communication, RSVPs, room reservations, catering, invoices, etc.). Assist with hiring and payroll of student staff (Handshake postings, HR paperwork preparation, student timesheets, etc.). Meetings, Committees, and Professional Development Meet regularly with Lead(s) and follow up on action items as appropriate. Participate in SSEP and unit area(s) staff meetings and assigned committee meetings. Participate in department in‑services training, professional development activities as appropriate and needed to better serve SSEP student populations. Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field; additional specialized experience can substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. Valid driver’s license in the State of California. Demonstrated knowledge and abilities through at least one year of professional Student Services work at the entry‑trainee level; graduate‑level education may substitute for experience. Working knowledge of organizational and program management methods, research and interviewing techniques, principles of individual and group behavior, and basic Student Services field trends. Ability to acquire the specific objectives of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to campus operations; interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather, analyze, and report data; make logical recommendations; communicate effectively; and establish cooperative working relationships with faculty, administrators, student organizations, and other agencies. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience working with undocumented, low‑income, first‑generation, and diverse student populations. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including phone, in‑person, email, and text; attentive listening. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with students, faculty, and staff across diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to protect the confidentiality of student personal information and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Compliance with all university procedures and policies; interpret CSU admissions and financial aid guidelines. Technology savvy; proficiency in Microsoft applications.
