Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Position Overview

This is an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical, Surgical, and Telemetry nursing. The position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, managing dysrhythmias effectively.
• Perform IV starts and blood draws independently; RNs place their own IVs and conduct EKGs.
• Administer medications and manage drips based on physician orders.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with patient education and discharge planning.
• Participate in unit meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Adapt to patient care needs and support floating within similar patient care units when necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required; 3 years preferred.
• Telemetry experience is mandatory, with proficiency in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Current certifications in BCLS and phlebotomy required; ACLS and CPI certifications preferred.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work various shifts, including weekends, with flexibility based on unit needs.
• Local candidates are accepted without travel restrictions; pending licenses will not be considered.

Patient Population

The RN will care for a diverse patient population, including individuals from medicine, cardiology, telemetry, surgical/vascular, orthopedics, neurology, gynecology, and urology. The unit serves a spectrum of patients, including trauma and vulnerable populations.

Additional Information

• Days consist of 3 shifts of 12 hours, with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day and 1:4-5 at night.
• Orientation and training opportunities are available as needed.
• Parking options include onsite and offsite facilities, with shuttle services available on weekdays.
• The charting system in use is Epic; prior experience with this system is advantageous.
