Senior Engineer/Field Engineer (Water/Wastewater)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer/Field Engineer specializing in water and wastewater systems to support municipal clients with engineering, field oversight, and technical modeling. The role combines hands-on field engineeringconstruction observation, start-up and commissioningwith design review, hydraulic and process modeling, and regulatory support. The successful candidate will ensure projects meet performance, safety, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform field engineering and construction observation for water and wastewater projects including treatment plants, pump stations, potable water tanks and pipelines.Lead hydraulic and process modeling efforts (distribution and collection systems) to support design, capacity planning, and operational optimization.Prepare, review and stamp (if licensed) engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports; develop AutoCAD and GIS deliverables for project design and as-built documentation.Manage project schedules, budgets, and subcontractors; coordinate with municipal clients, contractors, and regulators to resolve technical and permitting issues.Conduct site assessments, system performance evaluations, testing, commissioning and start-up of treatment processes, lift/list stations, and pumping systems.Develop permit submittals and compliance documentation; support regulatory inspections and respond to agency comments (familiarity with TCEQ, Chapter 290 and Chapter 217 is a plus).Provide construction QA/QC, safety oversight, and documentation of field activities; maintain accurate field logs, change orders, and punch lists.Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians; participate in client meetings, public presentations and provide technical guidance during project handover.QualificationsBachelors degree in Civil, Environmental or Municipal Engineering or related discipline required; Masters degree preferred.5+ years of progressive experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering, including both design and field/ construction experience.Demonstrated experience with hydraulic and process modeling tools and techniques for water, wastewater and stormwater systems.Strong civil engineering skills including pipelines, pump stations, treatment plant processes, potable water tanks and distribution/collection system design.Hands-on field experience with construction observation, commissioning and troubleshooting of treatment plants and pumping systems.Proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS for plan preparation and as-built documentation.Experience working with municipal clients, knowledge of regulatory programs; familiarity with TCEQ rules (Chapter 290 and Chapter 217) and permitting desired.Ability to develop technical reports, permit applications and cost estimates; strong written and verbal communication skills.Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; valid drivers license and willingness to travel to field sites required.Nice-to-have: direct experience with treatment plant operations, lift/list stations, pump station design, potable water tanks, pipeline construction, hydraulic modeling software, and familiarity with local/state regulations and permitting processes.BenefitsCompetitive compensationAnnual BonusFull health insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision)401k w/matchHSADisabilityPTOPaid holidaysCollaborative environmentpositive work cultureStrong growth/advancement opportunitiesMuch more!
