Senior Strategic Buyer

Join Lonza’s global Procurement organization and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of indirect purchasing across our Bend, OR facility and multiple network sites. In this position, you will act as a high-impact sourcing authority—delivering measurable value, ensuring strict business continuity, and influencing key regional initiatives to drive commercial impact across our global supply network.

• Lead end-to-end indirect procurement activities for the Tampa site across categories including MRO and spare parts, technical services, utilities, facilities, professional services, IT, HR, packaging, capital projects, and other indirect spend areas.
• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives including tendering, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and implementation
• Deliver annual savings, cost avoidance, and value creation targets through structured sourcing and demand management initiatives.
• Act as the primary procurement partner for Tampa site leadership and functional stakeholders.
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, Facilities, and project teams to understand current and future business needs.
• Support major capital investments, site expansion projects, and operational growth initiatives by developing sourcing and contracting strategies that align with project timelines and business objectives.
• Execute global and regional category strategies locally while providing market intelligence, demand forecasts, and supplier insights.
• Ensure effective implementation of contracts, supplier transitions, stakeholder adoption, and compliance with procurement standards.
• Identify opportunities for standardization, process optimization, and sourcing synergies across the Americas region.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance across assigned spend portfolios.
• Drive supplier performance reviews, corrective action plans, and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Proactively identify business continuity risks and develop contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted support to site operations.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Champion the adoption of procurement tools and digital sourcing solutions, including SAP, Ariba, e-sourcing platforms, and automated procurement workflows.
• Promote responsible sourcing, sustainability, supplier compliance, and decarbonization initiatives in alignment with company objectives.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in indirect procurement within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemicals, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences environments is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings, value creation, supplier performance improvements, and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations, technical projects, capital investments, and regulated environments
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to operate effectively in a complex global matrix organization.
• Solid understanding of procurement governance, contract management, supplier performance management, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field. Advanced degree, ISM, CPSM, or CIPS certification is an advantage.
