Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous Assembly Technician to join our innovative team focused on wearable biosensors. You will be responsible for executing small assemblies and performing visual inspections with precision. This role involves collaboration with research and development engineers, requiring adaptability and excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily production goals through efficient assembly and inspection processes.
• Perform microscope assembly and manual dexterity tasks.
• Identify and report discrepancies in builds, collaborating with engineers to resolve issues.
• Work with non-standard builds and document updates.
• Utilize various tools beyond hand assembly tools.
• Update raw material logs and batch record reports.
• Measure raw material usage within the manufacturing lab area.
• Operate company-made macros to set times and voltages.
• Prepare products for calibration by creating solutions and enzyme setups.
• Manage time effectively and absorb given instructions.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical assembly experience.
• Proficiency with batch record documentation.
• Prototype and assembly line experience.
• Experience in cartridge assembly and reagent manufacturing kit assembly.
• Competency in performing quality inspections and system tests.
• Ability to sit and stand throughout the day.
• Comfortable with lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Proficiency with hand tools, microscope assembly, multimeter usage, pipetting, and medical assembly.
• Dimensional inspection and troubleshooting skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous assembly experience, including manual and semi-automated manufacturing.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with one-piece flow is a plus.
• Strong documentation skills with paper-based systems.
• Effective communication and feedback skills with engineering and manufacturing leadership.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate with staff members.
• Ability to execute builds that are not standard and try new manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

Work in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom with adherence to strict policies and procedures, including wearing gowns, masks, gloves, hair covers, and shoe covers. Flexible shift hours at 6am, 6:30am, or 8am, with availability for overtime and potential Saturday work. Adaptability and self-motivation are key, as build schedules may change. The environment requires focus, especially during longer process times, and a willingness to go above and beyond is highly valued.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
