Maintenance Technician

Job Title

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles for an assigned division.

Distinguishing Features of Work: This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles for an assigned division. Responsibilities may include calibrating related systems; repairing various equipment and vehicles; and maintaining inventory. May act as lead worker to employees in lower classifications.

Typical Class Essential Duties:

• Installs, calibrates, programs, operates, and/or repairs controls associated with salting streets and related systems.
• Repairs various equipment and vehicles, including: repairing sweepers; repairing pumps and valves; repairing plows; repairing bulldozers; repairing graders; and repairing related equipment and vehicles.
• Orders parts and supplies and maintains proper inventory levels.
• Trains staff in operating trucks and equipment.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Qualifications

Experience and Training: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or Mechanical trade school and 1 year of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements: Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver License Class A with N endorsement and all endorsements required by state law

Parts and Weights of the Examination: Oral 100%

Duration of List: This list will be in effect for a period of six months.

Post-Employment Offer Requirements:

• Satisfactory completion of DOT medical examination, driving record check, and criminal background check (sex offender registry if applicable) prior to start date.
• All appointees are subject to a one-year probationary period.
