Papillion Foot and Ankle Center is a small medical family making a large impact on our patients’ lives. We are very proud of our patient loyalty and satisfaction level, and we are seeking to hire a skilled and organized Medical Assistant to help us continue this tradition. You will perform a combination of various administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative responsibilities include answering phone calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and documenting visits in patients' medical records. Clinical duties include taking patient medical histories, recording patient vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during examinations. When necessary, you will also perform blood draws, administer injections, and process prescriptions to be filled at the patient's preferred pharmacy.

Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients' health history
• Administer injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests
• Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
• Assist physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams
• Document patient exam and treatments
• Respond to and document patient phone calls/messages and schedule appointments as needed
• Acquire x-rays (certification required; home study course provided)
• Schedule outpatient diagnostic testing and arrange laboratory services
• Scan/Cast for AFOs and orthotics
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment, and medications

Medical Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

• Associate degree in a medical field (preferred)
• 1+ years experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Inventory Management experience
• Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

Hours

• 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (or until last patient) Monday
• 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (or until last patient) Tuesday - Thursday
• 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (or until last patient) Occasional Fridays
• 30-34 hours per week (full-time benefits)

Salary:

$19.00+ per hour, depending on recent work experience, education, training and work history
