Travel Nursing Job Details Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) Location: Evansville, Indiana Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030 Start Date: July 27, 2026 Assignment End Date: October 25, 2026 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week Orientation: 12 hours; orientation hours may differ from the standard weekly guarantee Weekend Requirement: Three weekends in each six-week schedule Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday Patient Assignment: Approximately 1 nurse to 6–7 patients on nights Unit Size: 41 beds Float Requirement: May float within the nurse’s skill set, including to nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice when applicable Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a current compact license At least 2 years of recent, strong medical-surgical nursing experience At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment Level II trauma experience Associate degree or nursing certificate Current American Heart Association BLS certification Current NIHSS certification Recent EPIC charting experience and willingness to complete an EPIC skills checkoff Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, adaptability, communication, and critical-thinking skills Ability to work night shifts, required weekends, holidays, and occasional float assignments Travel RN Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including post-surgical patients and those with UTI, sepsis, COPD, CHF, and high fall-risk conditions. Complete focused and comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment. Monitor remote telemetry and promptly recognize and communicate changes in patient condition. Manage chest tubes, NG and PEG tubes, tracheostomies, ostomies, straight catheterization, and Foley catheters. Administer and monitor heparin infusions, blood and blood products, PCA therapy, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with hospital policy. Collaborate with providers, nursing assistants, patients, and families to coordinate safe, effective patient care. Demonstrate resilience and flexibility in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment. Support the clinical learning environment by precepting students or new hires when assigned. Float to other nearby units or affiliated campuses within the nurse’s competency when operational needs require.
