What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including those with sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, PNA, and post-op surgical patients
• Monitor patient vital signs and manage complex clinical situations, including wound care, JP drains, wound vacs, and hemodialysis catheter care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, RT, OT, PT, and specialist teams
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Assist in patient assessments, administration of medications, and pain management
• Support unit operations including float coverage across different med/surg units and coverage for scheduled holiday shifts

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in acute care settings
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
• Experience with wound management, hemodialysis or vascular access, and pain management

Preferred

• Telemetry or critical care experience
• Experience working in fast-paced, new unit environments

About the Assignment

This is a new Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit within a prominent healthcare facility in Shreveport, LA. The unit cares for diverse patient populations with a focus on educating travelers and fostering professional development. Nurses will work closely with a supportive team including charge nurses, in-house phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalist services, providing excellent patient outcomes and teamwork. Orientation includes 2-4 days of hospital-based training and 2 days of unit-specific onboarding, depending on experience.
