Director of Operations

Homefield is a high-growth, venture-scale startup building the system of record for impact capital. Our platform takes emerging fund managers through every stage, from forming a fund to administering it to measuring the economic impact of the capital they invest The result is more capital for small businesses in communities across the US.
Each verified outcome on Homefield becomes an impact unit. The company that earned it gets credit, and the fund whose dollar produced it owns it. Our long-term goal is to build a market for impact, where verified units can be issued, transferred and retired.
We launched the platform in September 2026 and are entering our growth stage. Right now we sell to economic development programs and business support organizations. Banks, foundations, states and impact investors who have to prove impact to funders and regulators come next.
The role

The Director of Operations runs the company's operating rhythm and manages the team. You report to the founder and are responsible for how work gets done every day: who is working on what, what is blocked, and what is documented so it can be repeated. The founder moves across sales, product, fundraising, and operations in a single day. This role keeps pace with her, holds what she hands off, and executes. Priorities shift week to week as the company grows. This is a hands-on role with real management authority, suited to someone who wants to build how a startup runs.
Working out of our physical office in Troy, NY is not negotiable

What you will do

People

Manage the Homefield team day to day, including priorities, workload, performance conversations, and onboarding of new hires
Run the daily whole-team standup, keep it short, and make sure every blocker leaves the room with an owner and a date
Track the founder's commitments and the team's commitments, and follow up until they are closed
Manage the founder's time by triaging incoming requests and protecting time for the highest priorities
Support hiring for key roles by running the process from job description through offer as needed
Process

Build Homefield's operating systems: find processes that run from memory or through one person, and make sure every employee documents the processes they run and keeps improving them
Run the investor update and FP&A calls with our accounting firm
Maintain the vendor and agency portfolio, including costs and renewal dates, run renewal conversations with the founder, and track operating spend against budget
Projects

Set and track company priorities with the founder, turn them into quarterly goals with named owners, and report progress on a regular cadence
Prepare the founder for leadership decisions with the facts, options, and a recommendation
Coordinate across sales, product, and operations so decisions are made once and communicated clearly
Support the fundraising process by keeping investor materials and the investor pipeline current and coordinating meetings and follow-ups
Lead cross-functional projects as the founder assigns them
What we are looking for

5 or more years in operations, chief of staff, program management, or business operations, with at least 2 years managing people
Experience managing outside vendors or agencies, including holding them to deadlines and reviewing their work
Experience at a high-growth or venture-backed startup where you built processes
A track record of building operating systems that people follow
Judgment to know when something needs a decision and when it needs follow-through
Comfort working directly with a founder, and the ability to disagree productively
Fluency with AI tools, and a habit of using them to build and automate processes
