Job Description: Senior Architect, Cloud Engineering

We are seeking a senior cloud architecture leader to design and guide the Azure-based AI Engineering Platform. The role owns the target-state cloud foundation, platform architecture, engineering patterns and technical governance required to deliver a secure, reusable and scalable AI landing zone.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture: Lead the end-to-end cloud architecture for the AI Engineering Platform, including Azure landing zone, networking, identity, security, AI Gateway, observability, and integration patterns.

Platform Blueprinting: Translate business, security and delivery requirements into a clear target-state architecture aligned to Cloud Adoption Framework principles and enterprise standards.

Infrastructure-as-Code Strategy: Define reusable Terraform module patterns, remote-state approach, environment promotion model, policy-as-code approach and conformance controls.

Integration Leadership: Guide integration across Azure, OpenShift, Databricks, MongoDB vector store, contact-center platforms and the broader enterprise API ecosystem.

Governance by Design: Embed security, privacy, HIPAA-aligned controls, auditability, content safety, logging and operational guardrails into the architecture from day one.

Engineering Oversight: Provide technical direction to cloud engineers, DevOps engineers and security engineers, ensuring consistent implementation across discovery, foundation, hardening and production readiness.

Stakeholder Engagement: Lead architecture workshops, design reviews, decision logs, technology trade-off discussions, risk reviews and executive-level architecture readouts.

Operational Readiness: Ensure the solution is designed for low latency, observability, cost transparency, runbooks, supportability and scalable enterprise operations.

Required Mandatory Skills

Deep Azure architecture expertise, including landing zones, management groups, subscriptions, hub-and-spoke networking, private endpoints, Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault and monitoring services.

Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Terraform, reusable module design, remote state, policy-as-code and CI/CD-driven deployments.

Experience designing secure AI or data platforms with API gateways, LLM gateways, RAG foundations, model routing, usage metering, logging and observability.

Strong understanding of Zero Trust, identity, RBAC, PIM, encryption, secrets management, private connectivity and regulated-data protection requirements.

Ability to lead cross-functional architecture discussions with client IT, security, architecture, operations and product stakeholders.

Required Industry Experience

12+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, platform engineering or technology architecture roles.

7+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience, preferably in enterprise or regulated environments.

3+ years of experience with Terraform-led infrastructure automation and reusable platform engineering patterns.

Experience delivering cloud platforms for healthcare, financial services, insurance, or similarly regulated industries is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to lead multiple engineering workstreams, mentor senior engineers and communicate effectively with C-suite and architecture review boards.

Required Technical Experience

Azure Landing Zone, CAF, subscription design, network segmentation, private endpoints, ExpressRoute, DNS, WAF, NSG, UDR, Key Vault and managed identities.

Terraform, Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/Jenkins/GitLab CI, Git branching, pull-request governance, deployment gates and environment promotion.

AI Gateway / LLM Gateway patterns using Azure APIM or equivalent, model routing, content safety, semantic cache, token quotas and prompt/response logging.

Observability using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, dashboards, SLOs, alerting and operational runbooks.
