RO Automation Engineer

- Automation System Debug - Hardware, Electrical, PLC, Robot, Vision
- Assist maintenance team to identify root cause of reoccurring issues
- Upgrade to systems to enable processing of new part models, data tracking, performance improvements, machine uptime etc
- Update and add PLC code (Siemens) to support new models and price changes
- Update machine vision programs (Cognex) to support new models and process changes
- Update and create new robot programs (Mitsubishi) as needed to support new models and process changes
- Develop a project plan to work diligently toward finding the best solution for complex recycling challenges
- Design and build prototype to explore feasibility of proposed solutions and inform the design of scalable systems
- Recommend best path forward to move from lab-scale prototype to scalable and deployable access
- Planned downtime is not to exceed 5% per shift
- Must be a self starter and independent worker with innovation
- Able to handle ambiguity and make decisions with certain or limited data
- Knowledge of MS Excel and Excel VBA along with familiarity with atleast one programing language (Python, Java, C++, Swift or similar)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships in a worldwide environment with the ability to distill complex ideas into concise business focused messages
- Ability to present findings by confidence, backed up with data, research and prototyping skills
- Insatiable curiosity with a proven ability to propose creative solutions to problems
- Knowledge of optics principles & Machine vision as they related to CCD cameras, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use for positioning and identification
- Working knowledge of robotics (6-axis and/ or Scara) pneumatics, servo motors, motion controllers, PLC and PC based control systems
- Basic experience with CAD, Design of experimental fundamentals and basic understanding of robotics and automation
- Familiarity with process design for Manufacturing and Mechanical Drawings
- Experience designing, building & troubleshooting functional prototypes of mechatronic systems incorporating compute, sensing and actuation
