Postdoctoral position: CAR-Treg targeting of activated T cells in inflammatory arthritis The Nigrovic lab at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to spearhead studies exploring the use of chimeric antigen receptor-regulatory T cells (CAR-Tregs) for tolerance induction in inflammatory arthritis. The candidate will work closely with a junior investigator in the Nigrovic lab with extensive experience in CAR-T/CAR-Treg work (Dr. Holly Wobma). This work will build on the observation that CAR-Tregs targeting costimulatory proteins can target their activity to activated immune cells (PMID: 39413160). Here, we will target CAR-Tregs to activated T cells. The project will entail in vitro functional assays with access to patient samples to test human CAR-Treg immune regulation. It will also entail in vivo studies using murine CAR-Tregs with established murine models of arthritis in the Nigrovic lab. We seek to test the hypotheses that CAR-Tregs (vs. non-targeted Tregs) have enhanced ability to treat both autoantibody dependent and independent arthritis, given the central role of inflamed T cells to inflammatory arthritis broadly, and that they will induce durable tolerance that lasts longer than their circulation time. Applicants should have a PhD (or MD with substantial laboratory experience) related to cellular and immune biology. Specific experience with human and/or murine T cells, including flow cytometry characterization, is required. Experience with Tregs and mouse work is desirable but not required. The Nigrovic lab ( is a basic and translational research group based in the Division of Immunology at Boston Children’s Hospital. Funding is provided by NIH R01 grants and other sources. Successful applicants will have a track record of productivity that confirms their ability to work independently at a high level in a friendly, collegial, and supportive but demanding environment. Potential for partial self-funding is welcome but not essential. Pay range: $ 70,000- $75,000 / year The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
