About the Position

Surgical Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Tech experience - 1 year of scrubbing experience - 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital (preferred) License: - CO License (DORA) Required Certifications: - NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist Required - BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: - Sterile Field Management - Sterilization Processes and Requirements - Sterile Processing - Surgical Services - Sharps and Fire Safety Processes Description: Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined. Maintains accountability for ensuring that the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria. Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment. Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes. Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure. May assist with sterile processing. Assists the surgeon(s) during the procedure while staying within the scope of practice. Can identify emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies. Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.
