Senior R&D Engineer - Polymers Center of Excellence

Senior R&D Engineer position within the Polymer Center of Excellence focused on developing and optimizing polymer materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes for peripheral vascular medical devices. The role combines hands-on prototyping, material characterization, and cross-functional collaboration to advance products from concept through commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand laboratory capabilities by evaluating and implementing equipment, fixtures, and processes for prototyping
• Assemble early-stage prototypes using small-scale polymer manufacturing processes to support rapid design-build-test iterations
• Research, develop, and optimize polymer materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes for medical device applications
• Conduct material characterization testing including mechanical, thermal, chemical, and surface analyses
• Plan and execute experiments using engineering and statistical principles to investigate material behavior and process variability

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years professional or research experience with polymer materials, processing, manufacturing, or product development
• Working knowledge of polymer material science, properties, processing techniques, and application performance relationships
• Hands-on prototyping, manufacturing development, or fabrication experience with polymer materials
• Familiarity with material characterization techniques: DSC, DMA, FTIR, SEM, surface characterization, microscopy
• Medical device product development or polymer materials/coatings engineering experience preferred
• CAD software proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) preferred

Compensation: $89,400 - $148,900 USD Annual
