POSITION: CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST  

Reach for Youth desires to add a caring and compassionate full-time youth and family therapist to join our dynamic, and diverse multi-disciplinary teams at our Greenwood location. This role involves providing office-based family systems therapy for youth and parents.

STORY AND MISSION:  

Reach For Youth, Inc. was established in 1974 by a coalition of south-side Indianapolis community leaders concerned about the lack of services and programs in their neighborhood. Today we serve over 3500 youth and their families from throughout Central Indiana, providing mental health and counseling interventions, Teen Court programs, school readiness intervention, and a host of other prevention services that provide opportunities for youth and strengthen families. The mission of Reach For Youth is to provide life-changing opportunities through mental health, restorative justice, and prevention services. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES:  

Reach For Youth’s mission is fulfilled through two primary programs: Family systems therapy services and restorative justice prevention/intervention. Family systemic services include individual, family, and group therapy, and various educational and therapeutic groups done in collaboration with our restorative justice staff. These include Empower YOUth and Pathways to Success. Restorative justice/intervention services include Teen Court, both in the local schools and community, restorative justice circles, and Evaluation and Support Programs (ESP) in local schools. Reach For Youth’s mental health and positive youth development services address the four essential elements of positive youth development and mental health: a sense of belonging; a sense of mastery; obtaining independence; and promoting servant leadership through social and community engagement. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Preferred applicant will have a Masters Level degree from an accredited school in the field of mental health such as: Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Counseling Psychology. Applicants must have obtained a license by the State of Indiana as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Knowledge of the juvenile justice system, child welfare system, community resources, and or substance abuse issues is a plus. Provisional licensure candidates are welcome to apply.

REPORTS TO:  

Director of Mental Health

PURPOSE:  

To provide family systems clinical services - including individual, family and group therapy - for youth ages 7 to 18 and their parents. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES   AND  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Conduct comprehensive assessments that include youth and parents

Develop individual and family-centered treatment plans with youth and parents

Conduct individual and family therapy sessions utilizing family systems modalities and other evidence-based practices

Plan, develop and deliver psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, alone and with a co-facilitator 

Make referrals to Outreach Program Directors to assist clients with needed community services and resources, and to assist with agency referrals

Maintains timely documentation in a way which adheres to applicable regulations and professional practice standards

Assist with program planning and evaluation 

Must be able to work two evenings until 6 PM 

Other duties as assigned
