The Opportunity

As a dedicated Intermediate Level Decision Science Analyst - Member Value , you will join our Member Value and will be instrumental in transforming member service experiences through in-depth, end-to-end analytics. You will uncover critical insights to drive higher member satisfaction and value, refine service strategies, and optimize performance. You will collaborate with business leaders, apply advanced analytical techniques, and translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive significant change. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, or Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

• Leverages intermediate business, analytical and technical knowledge to participate in discussions with cross functional teams to understand and collaborate on business objectives and influence solution strategies.
• Applies advanced analytical techniques to solve business problems that are typically medium to large scale with impact to current and/or future business strategy.
• Applies scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer the business objective and drive the appropriate change.
• Translates recommendation into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and senior/lead analysts.
• Incorporates visualization techniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and ease the understanding for less technical audiences.
• Supports identifying and gathering the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis (EDA).
• Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews and compliance requirements.
• Adopts emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies and/or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions.
• Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences up to mid level management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.
• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative discipline; OR 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics or quantitative analytics (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• 2 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e.P&C, Bank, Finance) OR Advanced degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used to drive fact-based decision-making.
• Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.

What sets you apart:

• Quantitative and Analytical Acumen: An advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Analysis, Data Science, or related area) is highly desirable. Demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying analytical techniques to explore data and identify trends.
• Data Analysis and Synthesis: Proven ability to analyze, and interpret data from diverse sources (e.g., member feedback, operational metrics, business performance) to derive meaningful insights and actionable conclusions.
• SQL Proficiency: Applied experience in SQL for data extraction, cleaning, joining diverse datasets, and connecting customer data to channel activity.
• Experimental Design and Statistical Rigor : Demonstrates an ability to design and evaluate test-and-learn strategies using sound statistical principles. Experience applying concepts such as hypothesis testing, statistical significance, confidence intervals, and measurement methodologies to generate actionable business insights and inform decision-making.
• Curiosity, Initiative, and Resilience : Possesses a passion for analytics through curiosity by asking thoughtful questions and a continuous-learning mindset to quickly acquire new skills and approaches. Thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment, openness to feedback, can work independently with minimal guidance, and a willingness to adjust direction as priorities change. Experience uncovering deeper insights, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Communication and Critical Thinking: Ability to clearly and simply explain complex findings to various stakeholders. Possesses a proactive and curious mindset, strong critical-thinking skills, and a eagerness to learn and contribute to strategic initiatives.
• Military Service or Affiliation: Prior U.S. military service or being a military spouse/domestic partner is highly valued, as military experience often cultivates valuable transferable skills such as leadership, problem-solving, adaptability, and attention to detail.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $77,120.00 - $147,390.00 .

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
