They’ve already built the data foundation that connects to outpatient EHR and practice management systems and supports these workflows through services today. This role is about owning the technical vision that turns that foundation into scalable, self‑serve products while building the team and systems to support long‑term growth.

About the Role

As VP of Engineering , you’ll be the architect and primary builder of the company’s product engineering stack. You’ll lead a small but growing data and engineering team, setting technical direction while staying deeply hands‑on. You’ll define the technical roadmap, build the systems that scale it, and develop the team that sustains it.

You’ll own the architecture that powers customer‑facing products: data‑intensive applications that surface complex healthcare and practice management data through clean, usable interfaces. You’ll work across the full stack, from backend systems and data pipelines through to the application surfaces that clinic staff interact with daily.

This role is part of the founding team and is ideal for someone who thinks in systems, builds with urgency, and enjoys turning messy real‑world problems into well‑structured software.

What You’ll Do

• Drive the Technical Strategy. Own architectural decisions across the stack, from how data flows out of EHR and practice management systems through backend services and business logic to customer‑facing applications. Make pragmatic decisions that balance speed with long‑term scalability while establishing engineering standards and best practices.
• Build Data‑Intensive Products. Design and implement backend systems that transform complex healthcare data into products customers actually use. Build dashboards, workflows, and operational tools that make complex data intuitive and actionable.
• Turn Services Into Software. Partner with operations and product teams to understand existing workflows and transform manual, service‑driven processes into configurable, self‑serve software solutions through automation and workflow abstractions.
• Manage and Grow the Team. Define the structure of the engineering organization, lead hiring efforts, mentor engineers through architecture guidance and code reviews, and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
• Own Quality & Reliability. Establish high standards for testing, debugging, observability, and production readiness while continuously improving system reliability and performance.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of experience building production web applications with ownership over significant technical systems.
• Strong backend and data engineering expertise with experience processing, transforming, and serving complex application data.
• Experience building data‑intensive customer‑facing applications that present complex information in an intuitive way for non‑technical users.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript , with experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Full‑stack capabilities , with backend engineering as your primary strength.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses and modern data tooling.
• Experience leading engineering teams across frontend and backend development, with a passion for mentoring and scaling organizations.
• A product engineering mindset , always considering the end‑user experience alongside technical implementation.

Nice to Haves

• Experience working with healthcare, billing, or claims data.
• Experience transforming internal tools or managed services into self‑serve customer‑facing products.
• Experience building workflow automation or rule‑based systems.

Compensation & Location

• Salary: $250,000 - $325,000 USD + equity
• Location: Hybrid, New York City
