Quality Engineer

Job Overview General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer to serve as a technical liaison between production operations, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality. The successful candidate will be onsite at Tonawanda and support operations on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment. Responsibilities Follow and enforce all Site Safety Guidelines. Interact with production and engineering to solve issues and containments. Collaborate with Team Leaders and Group Leaders to resolve problems. Audit elements of the GM Quality Manual and GMS Built‑In Quality Statements. Review and approve Standardized Work for the assigned department, ensuring compliance with Tonawanda Quality Standards. Drive problem‑solving and lead resolution for supplier, internal, and customer quality issues. Ensure effective containment and resolution for identified non‑conforming products. Communicate emerging issues. Support the PTR Process by running PTRs and evaluating their impact on the product/function. Review and approve Plant Floor Change Management Requests for the assigned department. Support department scrap reduction initiatives. Required Qualifications 1+ year of related experience (manufacturing or engineering internships and/or co‑ops are acceptable). Strong critical‑thinking and analytical skills. Ability to work/rotate through all three shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd). Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc., as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of integrity and ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in quality and/or a manufacturing environment. Strong interpersonal and relationship‑management skills for collaboration across levels. Ability to solve difficult and complex problems by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and be resourceful. Knowledge of GMS principles and practices. Compensation Base salary: $86,900.00 – $114,700.00 USD annually. Bonus potential through an incentive pay program based on company, job level, and individual performance.
