As a Quality Engineer (QMS), you will drive the maturity, consistency, and effectiveness of our enterprise Quality Management System across multiple sites and product lines.This is more than a compliance role—you’ll be a systems thinker and change agent, shaping how quality is embedded into Veeco’s operations, enabling business growth, and strengthening customer trust. Relocation Assistance Available.ResponsibilitiesEnterprise QMS ExcellenceOwn and continuously improve QMS processes to ensure scalability, consistency, and ISO 9001 complianceDrive standardization across sites and product lines, reducing variation and increasing system effectivenessGovern controlled documentation, ensuring clarity, usability, and complianceAudit & Compliance LeadershipLead and coordinate ISO certification, surveillance, and recertification auditsServe as a primary interface with auditors, customers, and leadershipStrengthen audit readiness by evolving internal audit programs and closing systemic gapsContinuous Improvement & Problem SolvingChampion a systems-based, data-driven approach to quality improvementLead and mature the CAPA program, ensuring strong root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actionsApply advanced quality methodologies (8D, FMEA, SPC, 5 Whys) to solve complex, cross-functional challengesData, Insights & InfluenceDefine, analyze, and elevate QMS KPIs and performance metricsTranslate data into actionable insights for senior leadershipInfluence decisions by connecting quality performance to business outcomesCross-Functional PartnershipEmbed quality into daily operations by partnering with Engineering, Operations, and Supply ChainAct as a trusted advisor, simplifying complex quality concepts for diverse audiencesLead through influence in a matrixed, multi-site environmentWhat Success In This Role Looks LikeQMS processes are standardized, scalable, and consistently executed across sitesInternal and external audits are effectively managed, and any findings are addressed appropriately in collaboration with the relevant stakeholdersCAPAs are timely, effective, and prevent recurrenceQuality data drives proactive decision-making and measurable improvementsStakeholders view you as a go-to expert and strategic partner in qualityQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical fieldAt least 5 years of experience in quality engineering, including hands-on management of an ISO 9001-compliant QMS, participation in internal and external audits, and driving CAPAs that resulted in measurable improvements (e.g., reduced defects or audit findings)Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProven experience supporting or leading external audits and compliance effortsStrong knowledge of CAPA, internal audits, QMS documentation, and metrics systemsAbility to operate effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed organizationExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levelsSystems thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellenceStrong analytical capability, comfortable turning data into insight and actionHigh ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives end-to-endPreferred ExperienceSemiconductor, capital equipment, or high-tech manufacturing environmentsISO 9001 Lead Auditor certificationASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black BeltExperience with SAP Quality Module or similar ERP/QMS systemsTravelApproximately 10–20% domestic travelSalary and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $84,223—$118,207, plus a bonus opportunity.
