Similar in some ways to a Chamber of Commerce, these organizations serve as an important resource and advocate for their members, bringing contractors and industry partners together while supporting the broader construction community. Their work spans member relations, workforce development, education and training, networking, events, government affairs, labor relations, collective bargaining, and industry advocacy. Rather than being one small piece of a large marketing or association department, the Member Relations Manager will have ownership across some of the organization's most important initiatives and will work closely with the CEO on a regular basis. The role offers: Direct exposure to the CEO and Board of Directors, providing an opportunity to learn how a successful trade association operates and how decisions are made. A highly varied role encompassing membership recruitment and retention, events, communications, sponsorships, community outreach, and industry programs. The opportunity to plan and host approximately 10 major events and programs each year, including networking events, educational programs, member appreciation events, mixers, an annual gala, sponsorship events, and workforce-development initiatives. Job Details The Member Relations Manager will play a central role in strengthening relationships with existing members, attracting new members, coordinating events and programs, and communicating the organizations' value to the construction community. Reporting directly to the CEO, this person will serve as a key member of a small team and will have significant responsibility for the day-to-day execution of membership, event, communication, and community initiatives. Key Responsibilities Membership Recruitment & Retention Develop and execute strategies to recruit new contractor and associate members. Build strong relationships with existing members and identify opportunities to increase engagement and retention. Communicate the value of membership to prospective and existing members. Track recruitment and retention activity and provide regular reporting to the CEO. Maintain accurate membership databases, mailing lists, and communication platforms. Develop materials and initiatives supporting membership growth and retention. Events & Member Engagement Plan, coordinate, and serve as the primary liaison for approximately 10 events and programs annually. Coordinate quarterly member lunches, board lunches, networking events, member mixers, appreciation events, annual sponsorship events, and the organization's annual gala. Help organize workforce-development initiatives designed to introduce young people to careers in the skilled trades. Coordinate educational and training programs for members. Recruit attendees, sponsors, vendors, speakers, and community partners. Manage event logistics, communications, budgets, timelines, and follow-up. Identify opportunities to continually improve the member experience. Marketing & Communications Develop and execute member communication and marketing strategies. Create newsletters, announcements, social media content, email campaigns, website content, and other communications. Maintain and strengthen the organizations' brand presence across applicable channels. Draft professional correspondence, reports, press releases, articles, thank-you notes, and other written materials. Manage communications surrounding events, programs, membership initiatives, and industry activities. Identify new and creative ways to communicate with and engage members. Sponsorship & Community Relations Maintain and enhance the annual sponsorship program. Develop relationships with sponsors and identify opportunities for additional sponsorship support. Represent the organizations at community events, charitable activities, boards, and committees. Develop relationships with community and industry partners. Association & Executive Support Work closely with the CEO on strategic initiatives, special projects, research, and organizational priorities. Assist with Board of Directors meetings, committee meetings, agendas, materials, and minutes as needed. Conduct research and prepare reports and materials related to industry issues. Support the CEO and organization's lobbyist with research and information related to Nevada legislation and local government issues. Assist with research and documentation related to labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and grievances as needed. Support the development of educational, safety, and professional-development programs for members. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will bring a combination of relationship-building ability, organization, communication skills, and initiative. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered. 5+ years of professional experience in membership development, association management, events, marketing, communications, nonprofit organizations, or a related field. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong event planning and project-management capabilities. Comfortable managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital communication/social media platforms. Experience with membership databases, email marketing platforms, websites, or similar technology preferred. Trade association or 501(c)(6) experience is a plus. Construction industry experience is helpful but not required. The Right Personality This is a small-office environment where personality and approach matter.
