HVAC Controls Systems Technician

Responsibilities Performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. Responds to basic warranty calls. Provides customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Acts as a trusted advisor to customers, delivering solutions and outcomes during service. Loads system‑level controller software. Performs basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system‑level controllers to end devices (sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes required commissioning documentation. Keeps management, JCI contractor, or customer informed of job progress and issues. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment. Completes administrative tasks, including timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation. Documents changes and provides information for as‑built documentation. Communicates with JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. Provides recommendations and solutions to ensure facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provides quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Conducts extensive self‑study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company. Other duties related to commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems as assigned. Occasional travel. Qualifications 2‑year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a related field, or at least 2 years of industry experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical HVAC systems. Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Effective people skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical building automation equipment on a job site. PC experience required and ability to program HVAC‑related software.
