Respiratory Therapist (Rgstrd) The Respiratory Therapist is a member of the interdisciplinary team and works in collaboration with physicians. The therapist utilizes the care process consistent with their license and certification, initiating interventions within their scope of practice. A registered nurse oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensures consistency with the medical treatment plan. The patient care process includes: Assessment – identification, gathering, and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient, family, and significant others. Planning – identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care. The plan provides direction for the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team. Intervention – specific interventions or orders that are implemented in accordance with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – assessment of the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care and determining conclusions concerning achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes. Evaluation may initiate reassessment and revisions to problems, goals, and interventions. Based upon findings identified during assessment and reassessment, the therapist addresses patients’ problems prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational, and social status. Goals are identified consistent with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion. Education is tailored to the identified problem and associated goals and is critical to creating an empowering environment. Licensed and certified care providers responsible for utilizing the care process are expected to document assessment, plan, intervention, and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines, and organizational policy. The respiratory therapist actively supports performance‑improvement initiatives, participates in educational activities, and assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth. Licensed by the State Board of Respiratory Care and registered as a Respiratory Therapist. Current BLS/HCP required; certification in one of ACLS, PALS, or NRP required. Experience Prior experience preferred but not required. Pool candidates must have 3 years of critical‑care experience. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; skill required within 30‑60 days of hire.
