RN - Interventional Radiology

Employment Status: Full time | Shift: Day/Evening/Night | Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke | Requisition Number: R153080 | RN - Interventional Radiology (Open) Sign on bonus and relocation assistance available. The Interventional Radiology Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology department. The role requires assessment of patient condition and immediate action in emergency situations, with primary accountability for nursing coordination and individualized care for patients of all ages. The nurse determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence-based, quality patient care and performance improvement. Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes for patients of all ages. Complete focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation in a timely manner. Respond to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures, including assessment of cardiac arrest and intravenous problems. Perform pre‑examination and post‑examination assessments for angiography, CT scan, and other special procedures. Collaborate with health‑care team members, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Follow established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, credentialed invasive cardiologist, or credentialed intravascular surgeon. Administer treatments and medications for patients of all ages, documenting in electronic medical records. Identify and address patient/family educational needs, incorporating them into the plan of care and documenting appropriately. Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, and resource consumption while improving patient outcomes. Organize and prioritize tasks, demonstrating flexibility with scheduling and the ability to prioritize competing needs. Complete manager/director‑predetermined projects within specified time frames and according to guidelines. Orient new employees as needed and provide feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation. Participate in unit, hospital, and system activities to provide input into practice, environment, and work issues, fostering staff participation in decision making. Assist with education activities for the unit/department. Qualifications Graduate of a professional nursing school; BSN preferred. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Required certifications: AHA ACLS, PALS, and AHA BLS‑HCP. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. No prior experience required.
