Master Scheduler

We are seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to lead production scheduling, planning, and order management activities within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining the master production schedule to ensure customer commitments are met while balancing capacity utilization, inventory objectives, material availability, and operational efficiency. The Master Scheduler serves as a critical link between Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Customer Service, Sales, and Leadership to align priorities and drive execution. This position supervises planning and order management personnel while providing visibility, leadership, and direction across the production planning process. Key Responsibilities Master Production Scheduling Develop and maintain the master production schedule based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory targets, and available capacity Balance customer delivery requirements with labor availability, equipment capacity, material constraints, and operational priorities Review production schedules daily and adjust plans to support changing business conditions Monitor schedule adherence and take corrective action when production performance falls outside established targets Ensure timely communication of schedule changes to operations, purchasing, engineering, customer service, and leadership teams Production Planning & Capacity Management Analyze production capacity, resource utilization, and throughput requirements to support efficient manufacturing operations Identify bottlenecks, resource constraints, and capacity limitations that could impact customer deliveries or operational performance Recommend solutions to improve capacity utilization and production flow Coordinate production priorities across multiple work centers and manufacturing resources Manage production transitions between facilities as required Job Shop & High-Mix Manufacturing Scheduling Support a high-mix manufacturing environment where routings, quantities, materials, lead times, and customer requirements vary significantly Sequence production orders to maximize efficiency while maintaining customer delivery commitments Adjust schedules based on material shortages, engineering changes, supplier delays, labor constraints, equipment availability, and shifting priorities Minimize work-in-process inventory while maximizing throughput and schedule performance Maintain accurate planning data to support scheduling decisions and visibility Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination Partner closely with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability supports production requirements Communicate known and potential material shortages impacting schedule performance Support inventory management initiatives including Kanban, supplier-managed inventory, consignment, and just-in-time replenishment programs Monitor inventory trends and recommend actions that improve inventory turns while supporting customer service objectives Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to improve material flow and supply chain reliability Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing Apply Lean Manufacturing principles throughout planning and scheduling activities Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve delivery performance, productivity, inventory management, and operational efficiency Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and scheduling metrics that improve visibility and decision-making Partner with Information Technology teams to enhance planning tools and reporting capabilities Implement and maintain processes that support accurate inventory control and production status reporting Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead daily production and scheduling meetings Facilitate Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities and operational review meetings Coordinate planning efforts with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams Supervise, coach, and develop planning and order management personnel Serve as a key contributor to operational planning and business decision-making Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered 5+ years of experience in master scheduling, production planning, materials planning, or manufacturing operations planning Experience within a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of capacity planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and supply chain fundamentals Experience utilizing ERP or MRP systems for production planning and scheduling Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail Ability to read and interpret technical, operational, and business documents Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting high-mix, custom manufacturing, metal fabrication, engineered products, or job shop manufacturing environments MBA or advanced business degree Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives Experience with Epicor ERP systems Advanced proficiency in data analysis, planning reports, and production metrics What Success Looks Like High levels of schedule adherence and production plan execution Improved on-time delivery performance Optimized production capacity utilization Effective management of material constraints and supply chain challenges Reduced work-in-process inventory and improved inventory turns Accurate production schedules that support customer commitments Strong collaboration across operations, engineering, supply chain, and customer-facing teams Continuous improvement of planning processes, reporting, and operational performance Reporting Structure Reports to: Operations Leadership Supervises: Planning and Order Management Personnel Why This Opportunity?
